Given the current security situation in Europe, there is a clear need to strengthen and secure robust ammunition production. This agreement will help build essential stockpiles for the Armed Forces across the Nordic region. It will also enhance security of supply during uncertain times and further develop the defense industrial base in all participating countries. The partnership will reinforce the strong bonds within the NORDEFCO framework, ensuring continued collaboration, reliable deliveries for military operations, and ongoing support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
“We are very pleased that this agreement establishes a framework with Nammo as a strong and committed partner in ammunition production. Nammo’s extensive experience and expertise will ensure the delivery of quality products to our forces,” the signing parties stated.
Initially, the agreement will focus on the production of 155mm artillery and small arms calibers. Looking ahead, it will further strengthen Nordic cooperation in defense, including research and development, new product initiatives, and the cross-utilization of ammunition.
