Test firings take place in one of our 15 firing ranges, which cover ammunition spanning from 5,56 to 155 mm. Advanced equipment for internal, external and terminal ballistics is available for measurement and documentation. In co-operation with Norwegian authorities, a National NATO Test Center for small caliber ammunition has been established.
Environmental test facilities have also been built to provide our clients with a complete test package. Our test equipment for vibration, shock and climate is unrivalled and has the capability to meet requirements as defined by testing international standards, both military and civilian. For the last 50 years the Test Center has developed a complete range of environmental simulation facilities. Four electromagnetic systems are employed to conduct vibration and shock tests, including the machine LDS V994, which is the world’s largest electromagnetic vibration machine and one of very few worldwide certified to test energetic products at both ambient and extreme temperatures.
Fragment Impact Testing
Fragment Impact testing simulates what happens to a product when it is hit by a fragment, and is necessary to comply with both MIL_STD 2105 and STANAG-4496 requirements. The Nammo Raufoss Test Center is home to one of the world’s only fragment impact testing cannons.
This work has been done in partnership for over a decade with NTS, a U.S. based test, inspection, and certification company, with more than 60-years of testing and engineering experience.
