The event was attended by representatives from the U.S. and Norway, key industry partners, as well as officials from the State of Florida.
The factory is expected to be operational by the end of 2027 and will significantly enhance Nammo’s capacity to deliver solid rocket motors, as an independent supplier to missile primes. The new facility reflects Nammo’s long-term commitment to supporting U.S. defense programs and deepening industrial cooperation across the Atlantic.
“Today’s groundbreaking marks an investment in local industry and shows our commitment to our U.S. and allied partners to ensure they have the rocket motor capacity they need for the future. This factory will provide long-term benefits to national security, as well as to the community here in Perry,” said Morten Brandtzæg, CEO of Nammo.
Nammo has demonstrated its capabilities in solid rocket motor propulsion development and production since the 1960s, having delivered over 35,000 rocket motors for the Sidewinder program alone. Nammo produces solid rocket motors for missiles like AMRAAM and ESSM and is a leader in advanced rocket motor technologies including solid fuel ramjet.
Nammo provides energetic systems for the U.S. Department of Defense out of its Perry, Florida facility. The Nammo group has seven U.S. production sites and about one third of its total employees in the U.S. Once completed, the new Perry factory will provide an additional element of supply chain resilience and ensure capacity for future demand.
