The Vihtavuori powder plant was originally founded in 1922 as a military facility, producing propellants and explosive materials for the defence of the newly founded Finnish state. Today, the majority of Vihtavuori products are exported. The prime quality of Vihtavuori branded products is recognized internationally both in the defense industry and among reloading sports shooters and hunters.
At current, a new primer factory, an investment of EUR 33 million, is being built in Vihtavuori. The decision to establish the factory is based on the security of supply of the Nordic Defence Forces as well as the current commercial need for ammunition components.
