On October 24th the Polish Authorities approved Lockheed-Martin’s (LM) offset agreement based on Nammo’s cooperation with the Polish ammunition company Mesko. The agreement gives LM substantial offset credits (up to 876 MUSD) from the Polish Authorities for their offset agreement related to sales of F-16s to Poland. Within the same agreement Nammo and Mesko receive financial support from LM for their cooperation within several ammunition projects directed to the Polish Armed Forces.
The Polish Armed Forces’ requirement for modern ammunition is a result of their acquisitions of new materials such as the purchase of new F-16 fighter airplanes from LM and Infantry Fighting Vehicles from Patria.
LM and the Polish Authorities signed an agreement in January 2005 where transfer of Nammo’s modern ammunition technology to Mesko for production and sales to the Polish Armed Forces was one out of several projects.
These transfers of technology will be fulfilled in close cooperation with Norwegian authorities and in accordance with the Norwegian export guidelines.
For Nammo this will mean long-term cooperation with Mesko. The cooperation will include deliveries of components to Mesko for the licensed products from Nammo’s subsidiary, Nammo Raufoss AS. Contracts have already been signed for deliveries to Mesko for a total value of 100 MNOK. The cooperation is supposed to be extended to include other projects with significant potential for all parties.
