NSM (Naval Strike Missile) is a fourth generation long-range anti-ship missile with Imaging Infrared seeker and excellent stealth as well as sea-skimming capabilities in rugged coastal areas.
The Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is Prime Contractor for NSM, and Nammo is responsible for the NSM Booster Rocket Motor.
NSM is designed to operate from a wide range of platforms such as ships, trucks, armoured vehicles and airborne weapon carriers. Important requirements for the Booster Rocket Motor are low weight, high performance and low radar signature. A filament wound composite structure (CFRP) and a modern propellant are utilised to achieve a maximum performance/mass ratio.
The Royal Norwegian Navy has chosen NSM for its new Frigates and fast Patrol Boats.
