IRIS-T is a new generation short-range air-to-air missile with Imaging Infrared seeker and Thrust Vector Control.
A European consortium consisting of Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Norway has jointly developed and procured the IRIS-T missile that is currently in full-scale series production.
The German company Diehl BGT Defence is Prime Contractor for IRIS-T, and Nammo is responsible for the Rocket Motor with Thrust Vector Control in this multinational consortium.
IRIS-T has during extensive flight-test campaigns proven outstanding performance in tracking and hitting low signature and flare emitting targets with high manoeuvrability.
Nammo has developed a new Rocket Motor for IRIS-T with a high performance Thrust Vector Control module that provides extreme agility. Thrust Vector Control solutions developed by Nammo have proven to be world class, and represent cutting edge technology within this field.
IRIS-T will be in operational service on a wide range of modern fighter aircrafts including Eurofighter Typhoon, F-16, EF/A-18, JAS 39 Gripen and Tornado.
