In a tough competition with European rocket motor industry, Nammo was recently awarded the contract to develop and produce the Exocet Block 3 Auxiliary Boost Rocket Motor for MBDA France.
This is a very significant accomplishment for Nammo, because the customer, MBDA France is a major part of MBDA, which is Europe’s largest, and the world’s second largest manufacturer of missiles, and therefore a lead user of rocket motors. Nammo won the competition after more than a year of fierce competition. Nammo believes that its success was due to its innovative technical solution, which permitted Nammo to offer the best price along with a sufficient level of assurance to the customer that delivery milestones will be met.
Exocet is a combat proven missile that is probably the world’s best-known anti-ship missile. Nammo will develop and produce the starter motor, which quickly accelerates the missile from the launch platform up to cruise speed, where main motor ignition occurs.
Nammo has selected French subcontractors for vital sub-assemblies thereby promoting French-Norwegian industrial cooperation, which Nammo considers essential in today’s evolving new Europe.
